A coffee, a piece of toast with olive oil and iberian ham, an orange juice... and a song by Coldplay. A new day begins. Let´s greet it!!

2014 is being a year of changes for me, but, curiously, I ´ve also reconnected with people I hadn ´t seen for ages. It´s as if my past visits me again.

Things change, but I´m sure that a positive mental attitude will always bring the best back to you. I´ll give you some very simple tips to develop a more positive outlook in life. They really work.

  • Get enough sleep but get up early, don ´t get up late.
  • Do some exercise.
  • Plan your day/week/weekend.
  • Surround yourself with positive people.
  • Spend  time with your family and friends.
  • Eat healthy food.
  • Enjoy and pay attention to simple things around you (a sunset, a hot chocolate, a hug...)
  • Read books and let your mind fly away.
  • Listen to music.
  • Take time out and relax.
  • Do at least one thing every day you can feel proud of the next day.

What about a song  now? Let´s say Gabrielle Aplin?

My Salvation...

Enjoy it...

What do you like doing in your spare time? Drawing perhaps?
If so, I´ll take you straight to an amazing Instagram profile:

_artistiq

What are the drawings you´ve found like?
What/who does this person draw?
How would you define these drawings?
Which one do you like the most?
Why?

Try to express yourself:

  • Put your ideas in order and order the words in each sencence
(usually subject + verb + objects + adverbs)
  • Use as many different adjectives as possible  to describe the drawing and give your personal opinion (use a dictionary and look up the words you  don´t know)
  • Avoid too complex structures. Use subordinate clauses you know.

Sure you´ll get it!!!!

Although I´m sure those of us who are teachers frequently have some problems when drawing on the blackboard, I´ll post a video by TeachingEnglish which could help us, at least with animals.

3D sounds, virtual sounds...

Hugo Zuccarelli is the inventor of an amazing sound system that allows  to recreate reality recording sounds exactly as they are. So, holophonic sounds are  digitally processed to create an auditory illusion as if the listener is immerse into a particular reality.

Put your headphones on. It only works if you use them!

Close your eyes and enjoy a virtual haircut.

Edinburgh is one of the most beautiful and interesting places I have ever been to. An unforgettable setting, indeed, capital of Scotland and a UNESCO World Heritage. There is something special I cannot describe in this city.  Incredible buildings, twisty hilly streets, its old castle on a hill, the street performers, Greyfriars Bobby, Calton Hill...and the best people, friendly and cheery.

Here I post some of the pictures I took on my trip, even the one when my plane was just about to land. When I saw the green and fresh fields from above I already felt its magic. Also watch this video from the City of Edinburgh Council where you can enjoy the best in the city.

Great memories...

Stay positive when things go wrong. Try and read as many inspiring messages as possible on this video from the book "The Fault in Our Stars," whose film will be released next summer.

It's just another night
And I'm staring at the moon
I saw a shooting star
And thought of you
I sang a lullaby
By the waterside and knew
If you were here,
I'd sing to you
You're on the other side
As the skyline splits in two
I'm miles away from seeing you
I can see the stars
From America
I wonder, do you see them, too?
So open your eyes and see
The way our horizons meet
And all of the lights will lead
Into the night with me
And I know these scars will bleed
But both of our hearts believe
All of these stars will guide us home
I can hear your heart
On the radio beat
They're playing 'Chasing Cars'
And I thought of us
Back to the time,
You were lying next to me
I looked across and fell in love
So I took your hand
Back through lands and streets I knew
Everything led back to you
So can you see the stars?
Over Amsterdam
You're the song my heart is
Beating to
So open your eyes and see
The way our horizons meet
And all of the lights will lead
Into the night with me
And I know these scars will bleed
But both of our hearts believe
All of these stars will guide us home
And, oh, I know
And oh, I know, oh
I can see the stars
From America

Which is the most beautiful place you have ever been to?
Which is the most amazing place you have ever seen?

Look at this island...It´s Aogashima, a Japanese island,  the southernmost and most isolated inhabited island of the Izu archipelago.

USE OF THE SUPERLATIVE

A. It is the word "most" or the ending "--est" that designates the superlative.

  • He is the most efficient worker we have.
  • That is the poorest family in the neighborhood.
  • He works the fastest of any student I know.
  • She is the tallest woman in town.
  • It's the best day of my life!
  • She works the best of the whole class.
  • She's the one who arrived first.

young --> the youngest,        tall --> the tallest,

heavy --> the heaviest,          early --> the earliest,
wise --> the wisest,                 large --> the largest,
red --> the reddest,                 big --> the biggest

>Some very common superlatives have irregular forms:

good --> the best,        bad --> the worst,
far --> the farthest

>Some adjectives exist only in superlative form:

the first,        the last

B. The compared term (adjective or adverb) will be preceded by the definite article

C. Unlike the comparative, the superlative is not followed by "than": instead, one uses "of," followed by the context of the comparison (although this context is sometimes implicit)

IRREGULAR FORMS

Monosyllabic adjectives (and several common two-syllable adjectives) take the ending "--est" in superlatives of superiority, and thus will not use the adverb "most." However, these same adjectives will use "less," like other adjectives, in superlatives of inferiority:

>If the adjective ends in "--y" the "y" becomes "i":

>If the adjective ends in "--e" one adds only "--st" :

>If the adjective ends in "single vowel + consonant," the consonant is doubled and one adds "--est":

The Cup Song,  from the film "Pitch Perfect", has become immensely popular among children and young people all over the world. You only need a table, a plastic or paper cup, rhythm and patience. You can do it alone or play this game in a group. If so, you can do the cup routine in a circle, passing the cup to your right.

Watch the scene from the film and then the tutorial. It´s your chance now. Try and good luck!!

Surprising, isn´t it?
Mother's Day in UK is held on the fourth Sunday of Lent, exactly three weeks before Easter Sunday. However Spanish people celebrate this day on the first Sunday of May, 4th of May this time.

Do something  personal and creative. You needn´t run to the big stores or the florist. Make Mother’s Day gifts from your heart, Perhaps it ´s as simple as giving her a little bit more of your time.
