A nostalgic song that I like on this rainy day. ByAdele, I hope you like it.
This is the Prologue from Disney's Beauty and the Beast. The narration is by David Ogden Stiers, who has a wonderful voice and pronunciation. How beautiful English language sounds!
Enjoy it.
Enjoy it.
Once upon a time, in a faraway land,
A young Prince lived in a shining castle.
Although he had everything his heart desired,
The Prince was spoiled, selfish, and unkind.
But then, one winter's night,
An old beggar woman came to the castle
And offered him a single rose In return for shelter from the bitter cold.
Repulsed by her haggard appearance,
The Prince sneered at the gift,
And turned the old woman away.
But she warned him not to be deceived by appearances,
For Beauty is found within.
And when he dismissed her again,
The old woman's ugliness melted away
To reveal a beautiful Enchantress.
The Prince tried to apologize, but it was too late,
For she had seen that there was no love in his heart.
And as punishment,
She transformed him into a hideous beast,
And placed a powerful spell on the castle,
And all who lived there.
Ashamed of his monstrous form,
The beast concealed himself inside his castle,
With a magic mirror as his only window to the outside world.
The Rose she had offered,
Was truly an enchanted rose,
Which would bloom for many years.
If he could learn to love another,
And earn her love in return
By the time the last petal fell,
Then the spell would be broken.
If not, he would be doomed to remain a beast
For all time.
As the years passed,
He fell into despair, and lost all hope,
For who could ever learn to love...a Beast?

Our senses deceive us. Descartes already discovered it in the 17th century...So, don´t trust. Sometimes we perceive images that differ from objective reality. Have a look at these amazing visual illusions.
I like this song by Cold Play very much, although it´s too similar to RITMO DE LA NOCHE, by Mystic. The band has even been slammed as being "copycat". However Coldplay frontman Chris Martin collaborated with I Go To Rio tunesmiths Peter Allen and Adrienne Anderson - whose original song was sampled on the dance track. The duo even have a writing credit on the new song and Coldplay admitted on their website:
"Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall contains elements of I Go To Rio written by Peter Allen and Adrienne Anderson."
I TURN THE MUSIC UP, I GOT MY RECORDS ON
I SHUT THE WORLD OUTSIDE UNTIL THE LIGHTS COME ON
MAYBE THE STREETS ALIGHT, MAYBE THE TREES ARE GONE
I FEEL MY HEART START BEATING TO MY FAVOURITE SONG
AND ALL THE KIDS THEY DANCE, ALL THE KIDS ALL NIGHT
UNTIL MONDAY MORNING FEELS ANOTHER LIFE
I TURN THE MUSIC UP
I’M ON A ROLL THIS TIME
AND HEAVEN IS IN SIGHT
I TURN THE MUSIC UP, I GOT MY RECORDS ON
FROM UNDERNEATH THE RUBBLE SING A REBEL SONG
DON’T WANT TO SEE ANOTHER GENERATION DROP
I’D RATHER BE A COMMA THAN A FULL STOP
MAYBE I’M IN THE BLACK, MAYBE I’M ON MY KNEES
MAYBE I’M IN THE GAP BETWEEN THE TWO TRAPEZES
BUT MY HEART IS BEATING AND MY PULSES START
CATHEDRALS IN MY HEART
AND WE SAW OH THIS LIGHT I SWEAR YOU, EMERGE BLINKING INTO
TO TELL ME IT’S ALRIGHT
AS WE SOAR WALLS, EVERY SIREN IS A SYMPHONY
AND EVERY TEAR’S A WATERFALL
IS A WATERFALL, OH!
IS A WATERFALL, OH! OH! OH!
IS A WATERFALL
EVERY TEAR IS A WATERFALL
OH OH OH!
SO YOU CAN HURT, HURT ME BAD
BUT STILL I’LL RAISE THE FLAG
OH, IT WAS A WA-WA-WA-WA-WA-ATERFALL
A WA-WA-WA-WA-WA-ATERFALL
EVERY TEAR
EVERY TEAR
EVERY TEARDROP IS A WATERFALL
EVERY TEAR
EVERY TEAR
EVERY TEARDROP IS A WATERFALL

Prince William, son of the Prince of Wales and grandson of Queen Elizabeth II married Kate Middleton in Westminster Abbey yesterday, April 29th.,
This is what Guardian.co.uk says about the event:
"Miss Catherine Middleton of Bucklebury, Berkshire went into Westminster Abbey at 11am and came out an hour and a quarter later, holding the hand of the second in line to the throne as Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge – she will not be known as Princess Catherine. At the moment of their wedding, the Queen bestowed a title on her husband, Prince William of Wales. In fact, there were three titles so that none of her realms felt left out: he also became Earl of Strathearn and Baron Carrickfergus.
Yet, for all the pomp and circumstance surrounding them, the couple found space to share knowing looks and smiles, suggesting that the natural instincts and affections which Dr John Hall, the abbey's dean, told them at the start of the service had been implanted by God, were already in place. There were giggles between them as he struggled to wriggle the Welsh gold ring on to her finger.
Later, appearing on the balcony at Buckingham Palace to give each other the obligatory kiss to satisfy the watching crowd and the massed ranks of the world's cameras, they gave each other the most perfunctory and chaste of pecks, as if slightly dismissive of the public nature of the rit"

Two friends go to a cinema. They walk to the booth and order a ticket each.
The ticket prices are $8 (admission with popcorn), and $5 (admission only).
The first friend gives the cashier a $10 note and is asked to choose between the two types of tickets, which he replies, "$8".
However, the second friend pays $10 and the cashier, without hesitation, gives him a $8 ticket.
Why doesn´t he ask which ticket he prefers?

The Flag of the Isle on Man (in the Irish sea, between the islands of Great Britain and Ireland)
On February 9th, 1961, The Beatles made their debut at The Cavern, the popular basement club in Liverpool, their hometown. This successful group consisted of John Lennon (rhythm guitar, vocals), Paul McCartney (bass guitar, vocals), George Harrison (lead guitar, vocals) and Ringo Starr (drums, vocals) and worked in many genres ranging from pop ballads to psychedelic rock.
The Beatles' influence on music was revolutionary and immense. The Beatles' musical innovations, as well as their commercial success, inspired and inspire, even now, musicians worldwide.

The song "Yesterday" was considered the best song of the 20th century...
Have you ever tried to illustrate a song? It´d be interesting and funny at the same time. Take on this challenge and make a doodle video. I´ve found this example on a website (EFL Classroom 2.0) and the instructions to create your own:
1. Choose a song (not a very fast song, better with repetitions)
2. Write the lyrics
3. Get drawing. Match the drawings with the lyric line. If you don´t like drawing, you can also use landscapes, famous pictures, photographs etc
4- After you have all the pictures finished in order. take out your camera and take a photo of each.
5. Now you have the photos - upload them to your computer. Now, it is time to make the video.
6. Open up Windows Movie Maker. Click START and then select this little icon. If you have Windows 7, WMM won't automatically be on your computer - you'll have to download and install it yourself. Go HERE.
7. Now you will have to put the photos into WMM, add the mp3 file of the song and then "sync" or "time" them both together. Finally, "Produce" as a movie. Produce as an mp4 or Avi, these are the better quality and most sharable formats.

A lively song for today...
A good friend of mine, told me that perhaps you´d like this film: The Breakfast Club. The plot is about five students at a high School in USA who spend a Saturday in detention together in the library, where they are ordered not to speak or move from their seats by the Principal. They have to remain there for eight hours and fifty-four minutes and write an essay about who he or she thinks they are. Gradually they will open up to each other and realize that they are all deeper than their respective stereotypes.
Interesting, isn´t it? Pay attention to the background music, by Simple Minds ;)
Don't You Forget About Me (Simple Minds)
Hey, hey, hey ,hey
Ohhh...
Won't you come see about me?
I'll be alone, dancing you know it baby
Tell me your troubles and doubts
Giving me everything inside and out and
Love's strange so real in the dark
Think of the tender things that we were working on
Slow change may pull us apart
When the light gets into your heart, baby
Don't You Forget About Me
Don't Don't Don't Don't
Don't You Forget About Me
Will you stand above me?
Look my way, never love me
Rain keeps falling, rain keeps falling
Down, down, down
Will you recognise me?
Call my name or walk on by
Rain keeps falling, rain keeps falling
Down, down, down, down
Hey, hey, hey, hey
Ohhhh.....
Don't you try to pretend
It's my feeling we'll win in the end
I won't harm you or touch your defenses
Vanity and security
Don't you forget about me
I'll be alone, dancing you know it baby
Going to take you apart
I'll put us back together at heart, baby
Don't You Forget About Me
Don't Don't Don't Don't
Don't You Forget About Me
As you walk on by
Will you call my name?
As you walk on by
Will you call my name?
When you walk away
Or will you walk away?
Will you walk on by?
Come on - call my name
Will you all my name?
I say :

My Czech friend, Veronika, has sent me this fantastic video of the 600 anniversary show of Prague Astronomical Clock. This building projection is really unbelievable. It´s hard to believe that it´s just a projection...Awesome. Play the video using full screen.
(Thanks a lot, Veronika. A big kiss from Spain. I´ll never forget your effort to take us to Prague that day...)

New Year’s Eve in London is all fun and celebration. Last Friday London’s famous New Years Eve fireworks were launched off the 135 metre London Eye, projecting colour and light that could be seen throughout the capital.
